A satisfying loop through old-growth hemlock and fir that crests two rounded summits separated by a narrow saddle. On clear days both peaks deliver panoramic views of the central Cascades, with Mount Rainier floating above the southern skyline. The trail is busy on weekends but the ridgeline feels remote once you're above the treeline.

Highlights

  • 360° summit views of the central Cascades
  • Old-growth hemlock forest on the north slope
  • Wildflower meadow below the saddle in July
  • Reliable seasonal creek at mile 2.1

Trail tips

  • Start early on summer weekends — the trailhead fills by 9 am
  • Bring traction devices in early spring; the saddle holds ice into May
  • No water after mile 2.1 — carry at least 2 L from the car
  • Cell service is spotty above 3,800 ft; download offline maps
